U.S women’s national soccer team goalie, Hope Solo, has been officially terminated from the team.
Solo has a history of taking things too far when it comes to her emotions and was already on thin ice. She showed her poor sportsmanship when the team lost to Sweden in the Rio Olympics:
“We played a bunch of cowards. But, you know, the best team did not win today. I strongly, firmly believe that. I think you saw America’s heart. You saw us give everything that we had today. Unfortunately, the better team didn’t win.”
Solo tried to explain what she meant by her low remarks towards Sweden:
“They dropped into a 50. They didn’t try and press. They didn’t want to open the game. And they tried to counter with long balls. We had that style of play when Pia was our coach. I don’t think they’re going to make it far in the tournament. I think it was very cowardly. But they won. They’re moving on, and we’re going home.”
Subsequently, Hope Solo was dropped from the team.

She also took to Instagram, explaining to her fans how she felt about her termination:
A week after the above post, Solo posted on Instagram that she will be ending her season with the Seattle Reign because she felt she wouldn’t mentally be in the game:
Solo may come back to the field in the future, but for now she is focusing on what is best for her.
