“It’s not over until it’s over”. That is one lesson a Texas high school softball team had to learn the hard way in its recent state title loss.

Leading by two runs, Wylie High School thought it recorded the game’s final out on a play at second, and its players began to celebrate on the field.

There was just one problem.

The field umpire ruled the sliding runner safe on the close play at second, and, while Wylie celebrated, three McKinney North runners rounded the bases and scored to take a 7-6 victory.
