Hofstra University, the same university that hosted the first 2016 presidential debate, put a “Trigger Warning” sign up for another election-related event on campus.
The sign inside the student center at Hofstra was noticed by CBS New York reporter Tony Aiello.

The sign reads: “Trigger Warning: The event conducted just beyond this sign may contain triggering and/or sensitive material. Sexual violence, sexual assault, and abuse are some topics mentioned within this event. If you feel triggered, please know there are resources to support you.”
In the event that students are “triggered”, the sign gives the contact information for student counseling services, the Title IX coordinator, student advocacy and prevention, and the national sexual assault hotline.
The sign was put up during the presidential debate for a separate event on campus, MTV’s “Elect This” event. “Elect This” is an MTV’s initiative sponsored by progressive organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, Everytown for Gun Safety and the Anti-Defamation League.
