All of the members of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins stood for Monday night’s National Anthem in Landover, MD.
Not only did they stand, but they also stood alongside members of the United States military during the National Anthem holding the American flag. The Redskins coach, Jay Gruden commented on the situation prior to the game and said that his team would “stand up and give respect” during the National Anthem.
Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, said:
“I know all of our players will be standing out of respect for their teammate, Alejandro Villanueva.”
Steelers player Alejandro Villanueva earned a Bronze Star for his three tours of Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
