December 23 marks the celebration of Festivus. Per the show Seinfeld, immediately following the dinner comes the “Airing of Grievances”. The tradition calls for each person participated to tell each family member and friend about each instance they had disappointed him or her during the preceding year.

As Frank Costanza explains in Seinfeld:

“At the Festivus dinner, you gather your family around, and tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year!”

“Welcome, newcomers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you’re gonna hear about it!”

In honor of this tradition, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has made it a point to air his own grievances every year on Twitter. Some of his grievances certainly will include attacks on political opponents, while others likely will seem to be less policy based. Here is just the beginning of his Festivus remarks this year!
