“Hello, my name is Jane Doe. I’m a student at Oregon State University and I use she, her, hers gender pronouns.” That is how university administrators, professors and students are to interact with each other when they first meet at Oregon State University.
And to make this process easier Oregon State name tags have their “preferred pronouns” below their name.
Oregon State uses preferred pronouns so individuals aren’t “invalidated” when addressed by the incorrect pronoun. There are a number of hybrid options, such as ze, hir, hirs, or use the plural pronoun “they” to refer to an individual.
