It is no secret that there have been widespread protests across the country in response to Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States. Especially in Washington DC, there were thousands of protestors, many of whom turned to violence, especially on the day of the inauguration.

Many of these protestors have stated they are protesting in solidarity with those who are at risk of being harmed from the new administration. Typically it is said that immigrants and Latinos are most hurt by Donald Trump. However, Turning Point USA “Latino Leadership Caucus” member Cesar Subervi is a supporter of Donald Trump, and he is also a Latino immigrant.

Subervi told HYPELINE News that he was walking with fellow Latino Turning Point USA activist Daniel Herrera to “MAGAball,” hosted by the Young Republicans National Federation. He said on the way there, they walked past a group of dozens of protestors, with police officers in the area. He explained:

“I walked right over and jumped right into the middle of their circle and started saying all the usual pro Trump lines “Build the Wall” “Make America Great Again” among things like ‘We won!'”

After asking how “lighting stuff on fire in the street” would change anything, he states he began to be attacked by the protestors.

“[The protestors] started pushing me, grabbing my bag, and ripping at my jacket and clothes. They took my hat from me and then 7-10 people started punching me from every angle possible more than 30 times.”

The attackers were all masked at the time of the attack. Subervi took the punches, it was all caught by reporters and others in the areas. He raised questions about the real motivation of the protestors. As an

“These group of rioters, who were mostly white, claim to be anti-racist, anti-fascist, and in favor of ‘people of color’ but yet they started punching me, a Hispanic immigrant, because I support Trump. “

After finally escaping the attacks of the protestors, he was able to briefly speak to the reporters outside the area. He stated that some of the protestors and rioters there had claimed he had not been attacked, despite blood being all across his face and his clothes being visibly ripped.

He said they made a second wave, where he was attacked on the head by their flags and other sticks. This all as he was being called a “nazi, “white supremacist,” “racist,” etc.. Eventually though, a group of others, which included perennial Presidential candidate Vermin Supreme, were able to get him out of the situation and bring him into a nearby restaurant. Footage was captured of Supreme helping out with the situation.

Here is a video of the interview taken directly after the attack. Additional raw footage can also be found here and here. The Latino Leadership Caucus also released a statement regarding the situation. In the statement, Chairman Daniel Herrera called on law enforcement to investigate the attack.

“This act of violence is absolutely unacceptable and the Young Latino Leadership Caucus is calling on law enforcement to conduct a full investigation into this attack and prosecute all those involved.”
