Iconic rapper Jay Z will be putting on a concert in support of Hillary Clinton in Cleveland, Ohio before Election Day, according to a Clinton aide. The concert — which staffers expect will draw thousands — is part of an ongoing series that are supposed to motivate millennials to turn out to vote for Clinton in the same way they supported Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
Jay Z has been slow to back Clinton, however, especially considering how close he is with Obama. His wife, Beyoncé, though, has come out in support of Clinton.
The Clinton camp has also gotten help from Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, John Legend and other celebs to bring out the youth vote.
Clinton has had tons of celebrities support her 2016 campaign. But not until recently have a plethora of these famous supporters signed on to campaign for the iconic Democratic nominee.
However, for a woman who claims to be a champion for women’s right and gender equality, it’s interesting for her to enlist support from a rapper who frequently demeans women through his rap songs.
His song “Big Pimpin'” refers to women frequently as a b*tches. In “B*tches and Sisters” Jay-Z raps, “You ain’t no better because you don’t be f*cking rappers / You only f*ck with actors / You’re still getting f*cked backwards.”
How can Hillary Clinton enlist support of rappers and artists who objectify and disgrace women while at the same time claim to fight for women’s rights? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
