ISIS has claimed responsibility for the terror attack at Reina nightclub in Istanbul which left 39 people dead on New Year’s Day, however the search for the killer continues.

The claim by ISIS in a Twitter post brags about the attack against Turkey, and more specifically names Christians as a major target.

The post read, “In continuation of the blessed operations which ISIS carries out against Turkey, a soldier of the brave caliphate attacked one of the most popular nightclubs while Christians were celebrating their holiday.”

Turkish and US officials have both named the attack an act of terrorism.

While officials are still in search for the killer, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus confirmed Monday that they have obtained fingerprints and know of his appearance.

Turkish state-run media say police provided this photo of the suspect.

According to Kurtulmus, eight people have been detained for possible relations to the attack, not including the killer.

“We will find him, no delay,” Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said.

Footage taken at the nightclub shows the attacker shooting a police officer and security guard at the entrance of the nightclub.

A witness at the nightclub, Yunus Turk, told CNN about the situation.

“We were having fun. At first we thought it was a fight, then there was a lot of gunfire,” he said.

“After the gunfire everyone started to run toward the terrace. We ran as well. There was someone next to me who was shot and fell on the floor. We ran away and hid under the sofas,” Turk continued.

The club issued a statement Sunday in a Facebook post that read, “This terrible incident is a terror attack against our citizens’ peace, brotherhood, serenity, economy, tourism and against our nation.”

“Our hearts bleed and the bullets are in our heart.”

The victims killed in the attack were from 14 different countries, including India, Morocco, Jordan, Canada, Russia, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. As of Monday, 46 people were still hospitalized, including one American.
