An anti-Semitic flier promoting the idea of white privilege has been found at University of Illinois-Chicago, a public university in Chicago. The flier makes many of the same points that leftists make about white privilege, but in this case specifically targets Jewish citizens, stating such things as :

“Jewish Americans make up 2% of the population, 44% of these Jewish Americans are in the top 1%”. Stating income distribution facts is not inherently wrong of course, but the what the poster promotes is very disturbing; the title of the flyer says “Ending White Privilege, Starts with Ending Jewish Privilege”. It’s unclear exactly what the flier is implying, but anything specifically targeting a religious group should give everyone pause.

For their part, the university released a statement on Twitter and on their page condemning the flier.

“In response to anti-Semetic  [sic] posters found on campus, university leaders write: “acts that invoke hatred or violence” will not be tolerated” wrote the university’s Twitter account.

The statement further reads,

“Today, anti-Semitic posters were found on campus that defame, insult and negatively portray Jewish members of our campus community. Such actions do not reflect the values we hold as a community. Acts that invoke hatred or violence toward members of our community will not be tolerated on our campus. This event makes it necessary for us to reaffirm our collective commitment to two fundamental principles: the first is the importance of tolerance, inclusion and diversity to our university community and the second is the right to free expression that ensures we are a place of open inquiry and learning. Both of these principles are fundamental to who we are and what we aspire to be as a university.”

The entire statement can be found here. Currently, no group or person has been identified as being responsible for the flier.
